Stick object to point of deformed object
In some situations, you need to stick one object exactly to a certain point of another object. For example, when you want to stick a watch to an arm where the arm has one or more deformer childs such as a Bend or Displacer deformer. So when that object has such deformations, the points of that object will be deformed. But a the Constraint tag with a Clamp constraint won't take into account those deformations. That can be a problem if those deformers are dynamic and baking those deformations is not an option. In this 4-minute tutorial, i'll show you how we can stick this child object (eg. a watch) exactly to the parent object (eg. an arm) using a different method: with a little help of some XPresso. A practical use case for this is the example below where I had to stick the watch's clockwork to the wristband that's wrapped and deformed on the arm. The clockwork is 'clamped' to the wristband using this 'stick' method where a Clamp constraint was not sufficient.
Use case: the clockwork of the watch is parented to the wristband using my 'stick' method. Left a viewport preview, right the final render.
